I landed my first job through my experience and leadership in greek life. Thank you for taking the time to provide the information.

That first job has paved the way to a very lucrative career.

Jealousy is nothing new for those involved in greek life, as seen with the previous comment. Few are destined for greatness, think its a coincidence that many of the leaders in the nation are Greeks?

As always think before you speak, you could end up embarrassing yourself.

Thank you for the blog. I do believe that any experience within a Greek organization can be applied to the business world. As an example above, the Greek system often faces stereotypes of it being purely social, fake and useless (which is not helped by sorority/fraternity shows on t.v.).

But when looking into a Greek organization, one can see that there is a real business structure, the members holding positions, meetings and having responsibilities– providing members with experience that they can use after college, as shown in the blog post. Also, being in an organization like this opens up your network after college to local alumnae.

First of all, thanks for this blog. It's always great to point out ways that Greek affiliated alumni can benefit from their experience. I will be sure to share this with the women I advise as well as the young alumnae I know.

In regards to the negative comment, I do not appreciate when people who are not Greek assume that it's "paying for your friends." Most of the women in the sorority I advise pay their own dues, many of them have jobs and several are on payment plans. And no, it's not because they need friends. Most people at Lawrence enter Greek life with friends since recruitment takes place during second term. It's an excellent way to build skills that will be helpful in the workforce, learn how to work with other people that may be different than you, engage in philanthropy and service, work within a budget and develop a lifelong network of sisters.

These phrases are great. I'm very upset by the comment earlier puting Greek Life in the negative. It is a very positive thing and should be highlighted on a resume. I got my first internship with only my Greek experiences. I was able to highlight them, much as you do here, and was able to get the job. Thanks for recognizing the positive of Greek Life.

Left out the most obvious phrase – "Paid for friends who would never have given me their time had Daddy not forked over a few grand every semester."

Thank you for this! I was on Panhellenic Council in College and gained so much from my experience in Greek Life. I just passed this along to our Panhellenic and Interfranteral councils. These are great phrases for resumes! Thank you!
