Using Twitter for Job Search and Networking: Video Tutorial for College Students and Recent Grads

If you’re new to Twitter or aren’t quite sure if you even want to create a Twitter account, you aren’t alone. Although Twitter is definitely growing, it’s not anywhere close to Facebook and MySpace. And Facebook is still, and will likely continue to be, the favourite social networking site among college students and recent grads.

However, when it comes to job searching and professional networking, Twitter is an absolutely invaluable tool. Unfortunately, whenever I mention this to job seekers who are unfamiliar with Twitter, their eyes usually glaze over and a look resembling fear and dread usually emerges. That’s why I decided to create this post. There are numerous wonderful articles already written that explain the usefulness of Twitter (I’ve linked some of these articles at the end of this post, and will continue to add to this list). So, I decided to take this post in a slightly different direction. I want to show you some Twitter basics and describe how you can figure out whom to follow if you hope to successfully use Twitter for networking and job search purposes. There are 3 short videos that follow.
